Digit Stability Inference for Iterative Methods Using Redundant Number Representation

چکیده

In our recent work on iterative computation in hardware, we showed that arbitrary-precision solvers can perform more favorably than their traditional arithmetic equivalents when the latter's precisions are either under- or over-budgeted for solution of problem at hand. Significant proportions these performance improvements stem from ability to infer existence identical most-significant digits between iterations. This technique uses properties algorithms operating redundantly represented numbers allow generation those be skipped, increasing efficiency. It is unable, however, guarantee will stabilize, i.e., never change any future iteration. this article, address shortcoming, using interval and forward error analyses prove high significance become stable computing approximants systems linear equations stationary methods. We formalize relationship matrix conditioning rate growth digit stability, information converge desired results quickly. Versus previous work, an exemplary hardware realization new achieves up-to 2.2× speedup a set variously conditioned Jacobi method.

Efficient squaring circuit using canonical signed-digit number representation

Squaring and exponentiation of a number are fundamental arithmetic and widely used in the real-time applications such as image processing, digital filtering and cryptography. In this paper, we propose a squaring algorithm of an integer with canonical signed-digit (CSD) number representation. For an n-digit CSD number, our method generates n/4 CSD numbers of 2n-digit length as partial products. ...

Inference Methods for Partially Redundant Rule Bases

This paper discusses inference strategies for fuzzy rule bases resulting from databased automatic rule generation algorithms. Typical methods for rule generation are tree-oriented, statistical and evolutionary approaches. The aim of these data-based methods is the design of compact rule bases with a small number of interpretable rules which map the learning data set and provide a su cient stati...

Prediction of slope stability using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system based on clustering methods

Slope stability analysis is an enduring research topic in the engineering and academic sectors. Accurate prediction of the factor of safety (FOS) of slopes, their stability, and their performance is not an easy task. In this work, the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) was utilized to build an estimation model for the prediction of FOS. Three ANFIS models were implemented including g...

Isolated Voiced Digit Recognition Using Inductive Inference

This paper proposes the use of inductive inference "decision trees" for isolated digit recognition. The aim of this research is to demonstrate that inductive learning can provide an alternative approach to existing automatic speech recognition techniques such as Dynamic Time Warping (DP), Hidden Markov Modelling (HMM) and Neural Networks (NN). The construction of the decision tree is based on C...
